Urologix chief Warren returns to retirement
Medical device maker Urologix’s (NSDQ:ULGX) president & CEO Stryker Warren Jr. announced his retirement, effective at the end of this month.
Warren, who originally came out of retirement in June 2008 to take over Urologix’s corner office, will stay on as a salaried employee until March 29, 2013.

The Irvine, Calif.-based patient monitoring systems maker reported profits of $$13.8 million, or 23 cents per share, on sales of $112.3 million for the 3 months ended Dec. 31, 2011, for a top-line increase of 6.4% but a bottom-line decline of 14.2%, compared with Q4 2010.

Shares of Varian Medical Systems (NYSE:VAR) sank in after-hours trading yesterday as Wall Street reacted to shrinking profits during the company’s 1st quarter for fiscal 2012.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based oncology and X-ray products maker posted $625 million in sales during the three months ended Dec. 30, 2011, up 7.8% from $580 million sold in the same period in 2010.
Carticept closes $10M round from SonoSite, others | Funding Roundup
Carticept Medical closed a $10 million financing led by existing investors Domain Associates, New Enterprise Associates and SonoSite Inc.
The Alpharetta, Ga.-based company said it will use the proceeds to fund the commercial launch of its Navigator computer-controlled drug delivery system. The device uses ultrasound guidance to deliver medications for joint pain.

Urologix Inc. (NSDQ:ULGX) is heralding the results of a long-term study on its enlarged prostate treatment device.
Data from a study published in The Journal of Urology show that the Minneapolis-based medical device manufacturer’s Cooled ThermoTherapy (CTT) is safe and effective at treating both symptoms and obstruction associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the company reported.
