The company broadened the rollout of its Tecnis PureSee IOL. It designed the extended depth of focus (EDOF) lens to support visual clarity and quality for patients undergoing cataract surgery.
J&J said its Tecnis PureSee IOL delivers clarity of vision for patients, with 97% of patients reporting no very bothersome visual disturbances. The medtech giant said its lens became the first and only EDOF IOL with no warning on loss of contrast sensitivity available in the U.S. with FDA clearance in March. It helps patients experience visual clarity and confidence with an extended range of vision through a single procedure.
Former Company Group Chair, Vision, Peter Menziuso, spoke to MassDevice in April, explaining the significance of the company’s latest IOL technology.
J&J said expanded U.S. availability coincides with Cataract Awareness Month. It hopes to continue raising awareness about the common, preventable cause of vision loss.
“With the full U.S. availability of Tecnis PureSee IOL, we are expanding access to an important extended depth of focus option that reflects our commitment to innovation, visual quality, and patient satisfaction,” said Erin Powers, president, Surgical Vision, North America, Johnson & Johnson. “Patients today want vision solutions that support how they live their lives every day. Tecnis PureSee IOL builds on the trusted Tecnis platform to help meet those expectations while giving surgeons greater flexibility to personalize care.”
