Menziuso, a veteran leader of more than 30 years in the healthcare industry, succeeds longtime BD executive Rick Byrd in the position. Byrd announced his intent to retire last month.
Most recently, Menziuso served as company group chair of Johnson & Johnson Vision. There, he led a $5 billion global business, holding responsibility for commercial operations, R&D, supply chain, quality, finance and medical affairs.
BD says that Menziuso brings a “strong track record of driving growth through disciplined execution.” The company says his global leadership experience, coupled with his ability to lead at scale will enable him to accelerate execution and deliver continued growth for BD Interventional.
The Franklin Lakes, New Jersey-based company’s Interventional segment develops surgical, endovascular, urological and critical care solutions. It targets chronic diseases and high-burden conditions like urinary incontinence and peripheral vascular disease, as well as cancer and advanced tissue reconstruction.
Units within BD Interventional include Urology and Critical Care, Peripheral Intervention and Surgery. In the company’s most recent quarterly report, Interventional led the way in sales growth, increasing revenues by 7.3% year-over-year.
“BD Interventional has a strong track record of performance, and Peter is the right leader to build on that momentum and continue delivering results,” said Tom Polen, chair, CEO and president of BD. “Peter brings a strong combination of strategic leadership and operational discipline. He is grounded in delivering for customers and patients, building strong teams and driving consistent performance, positioning the business for sustained growth and continued strength across the portfolio.”
