Todd joins Swan after more than 25 years of leadership at Stryker. Most recently, he served as VP and GM of the orthopedic giant’s Robotics and Enabling Technologies unit. Todd announced his departure from Stryker last month.
He now leads Swan, which was born out of a joint venture involving a medtech giant earlier this year. In July, Olympus agreed to jointly invest $458 million with private equity investment firm Revival Healthcare Capital, establishing Swan EndoSurgical. It has a goal of creating new, significantly enhanced minimally invasive treatment options for unmet needs. The company is focused on developing a fully integrated, flexible endoluminal robotic platform for complex gastrointestinal interventions.
(Olympus CEO Bob White spoke to MassDevice recently about the venture and its aims. Read about it here.)
Swan EndoSurgical said Todd brings deep experience scaling next-generation robotic platforms, helping to oversee the advancement of its Mako platform. Stryker also struck a deal with Siemens Healthineers earlier this year to develop a unique robotic system capable of performing a range of neurovascular procedures.
The company said Todd’s track record includes building high-performance global engineering organizations. He also has experience driving innovation across endoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, and digital/AI-enabled enabling technologies.
