Tommy Thompson, the former Wisconsin governor who also served as secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services under President George W. Bush, stepped down from the board of directors at Organ Transport Systems Inc.
Thompson said changes in his schedule left him with no choice but to tender his resignation from the Frisco, Texas-based maker of technology used to preserve the viability of organs during transplant.
Allezoe Medical Holdings (OTC:ALZM) said its Organ Transport Systems subsidiary is preparing for clinical trials of the LifeCradle for preserving donated hearts before transplant.
The company, based in the Philippines, bought OTS in January. The move puts it on a collision course with TransMedics Inc., an Andover, Mass.-based which also has been developing an organ transport system.
TransMedics Inc. drummed up $3.57 million from 13 unidentified investors in another debt offering, according to a filing with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission.
