Montag said in a LinkedIn post that Stumpe’s appointment goes into effect on June 1, 2026.
Stumpe joins from Danaher, where he last served as chief technology & AI officer. His appointment to that role at the Washington, D.C.-based medtech company only went into effect in October 2025. He initially joined Danaher in 2024 as chief data and AI officer.
Prior to joining Danaher, Stumpe spearheaded AI initiatives for precision medicine at Tempus. Before Tempus, he founded the Cancer Pathology project at Google and served on the Kepler team at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
“His deep expertise in software development and artificial intelligence in the healthcare space, will significantly contribute to increasing our impact and leadership in Healthcare AI — an essential connector to our strategic strengths in patient twinning and precision therapy,” Montag wrote.
Stumpe’s appointment comes as Siemens Healthineers undergoes a shift following Siemens’ announcement that it planned to deconsolidate its remaining stake in Siemens Healthineers through a direct spin-off last November.
Siemens Healthineers currently stands as the world’s fourth-largest medtech company, bringing in more than $24 billion in annual revenue. Montag said the move marks the “natural next step” in the company’s journey to becoming a fully independent company, which it started with its IPO in 2018.
