Resmed (NYSE: RMD) is launching a new model in its line of fabric sleep masks for continuous positive airway pressure machines.
The AirTouch F40, set to become available at the end of this month, features a breathable fabric cushion instead of a silicone pad that the company said can adapt to the user as they move throughout the night.
The cushion is also made to be interchangeable for current users of the AirFit F40 full-face CPAP mask, so they may try out the fabric version without needing to be resized or refitted.
“By building on the success of AirFit F40 and introducing a new fabric option, we’re giving people greater flexibility to choose the mask that works best for them,” Resmed’s chief product officer, Justin Leong, said in a statement.

In addition, the company said its data has shown that 90-day compliance rates among people with obstructive sleep apnea increase by 6% with its previous fabric-cushioned masks compared to silicone ones.
Some previous models of Resmed’s AirTouch and AirFit masks were the subject of a large safety effort related to their use of magnetic clips in the head straps, which could potentially interfere with certain medical implants such as pacemakers. In early 2024, the FDA said it had received reports of six injuries.
Otherwise safe, the masks only needed to be returned if the patient’s implants contraindicated their use. Similar magnet-related warnings have been seen with Philips’ CPAP and BiPAP masks as well as Apple’s MagSafe iPhones and accessories.
