The new innovations from the sleep apnea therapy maker integrate with digital wearable devices and generative AI. San Diego-based ResMed said they aim to provide a more personalized sleep health experience while improving overall health. The company cited a recent survey that found that 54% of respondents expressed interest in a wearable device with sleep-tracking capabilities.
ResMed designed its latest innovations with digital wearables and the user experience in mind. It aims to offer personalized insights into sleep patterns and help users stay on track with their sleep therapy.
The company’s MyAir application helps patients stay engaged with their continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. With interactive coaching and nightly sleep data tracking, MyAir helps increase CPAP usage, with 87% of patients achieving therapy compliance.
(ResMed also launched a new CPAP mask today — read about that HERE.)
Features for MyAir include a smartwatch app for both Apple and Android watches. This app allows users to monitor their therapy data at a glance and stay engaged with their therapy. Sleep staging data from Apple Health and Health Connect work with MyAir to provide a clearer understanding of sleep cycles.
ResMed also added personalized coaching for tips and strategies based on behavior science and machine learning. Its app delivers holistic trends, extending to tracked steps, energy burned, weight, blood oxygen, body mass index, daily exercise, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, time in bed, and total time asleep, from Apple Health and Health Connect along with CPAP therapy data, all in one place.
Additionally, ResMed offers a new, AI-enabled health concierge, called “Dawn.” It delivers instant, 24/7 access to answers about sleep health, ResMed products and CPAP therapy support. Using generative AI, Dawn offers personalized guidance and connects users with the information they need in real time.
“We know that digital wearables and other innovative technologies like AI can help consumers better understand their sleep habits and create a personalized pathway to better rest,” said Dr. Carlos M. Nunez, chief medical officer at ResMed. “Regular sleep tracking can offer crucial insights that empower people to make informed decisions about improving their sleep quality both now and in the future.”
