Penumbra (NYSE:PEN) announced today that it promoted Shruthi Narayan to the position of president of the company.
Narayan’s appointment goes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. She continues to report to Adam Elsesser, who previously held the post of president before this promotion. Elsesser continues on as the Penumbra’s chair and CEO.
The Alameda, California–based company develops a range of devices for treating stroke and other blood clots in the body, including neuro access catheters and computer-assisted thrombectomy systems.
“Shruthi is a dynamic, seasoned leader whose passion for innovation and proven ability to inspire global teams make her the obvious choice for this critical role,” said Mr. Elsesser. “Her vision and focus on excellence will undoubtedly help sustain Penumbra’s exceptional growth and market leadership, expanding access to our life-saving technology to patients around the world.”
Narayan brings 20 years of medical device experience, including over than a decade already spent at Penumbra. Most recently, she served as president of the company’s interventional business. There, she led day-to-day operations and oversaw growth initiatives within the company’s neuro and vascular franchises.
Originally, she joined the company in 2013 as a product manager, beginning in the stroke franchise. Then, she transitioned to help build the peripheral vascular division, commercializing the company’s portfolio of embolization and thrombectomy products globally.
Narayan began her medical device career at Medtronic in 2006. She spent time at the medtech giant working in engineering, regulatory affairs and the cardiovascular sales organization.
“Penumbra has been at the forefront of blood clot care for more than 20 years, advancing the most innovative technologies to address conditions from head-to-toe like stroke and pulmonary embolism,” said Narayan. “I am honored to carry on and expand our legacy of innovation and look forward to continuing this paradigm shift in patient care.”
