The companies aim to advance a more connected, intelligent approach to sinus care through the Medtronic AiBLE ENT ecosystem. Medtronic’s AiBLE smart ecosystem features innovative navigation, robotic guidance systems, data and AI, imaging, software and implants.
With Karl Storz, Medtronic plans to align its comprehensive surgical solutions for sinus procedures. That includes the FDA-cleared Stealth AXiS ENT surgical system, which won FDA clearance in March. Stealth AXiS brings planning, navigation and robotics together into a single, intelligent system. Michael Carter, SVP and president of Medtronic Cranial & Spinal Technologies, spoke to MassDevice earlier this year to outline the benefits of the system.
Paired with Karl Storz’s endoscopy instrumentation and visualization systems, Medtronic says its technology can enable coordinated solutions that help streamline evaluation, procurement, and implementation for ENT operating rooms across the U.S.
The companies also plan to collaborate closely to offer joint medical education opportunities. These would give surgeons hands-on experience using both technologies together through fellowship courses and learning sessions and industry congresses.
