At the company’s Investor Day event, held at its Acton, Massachusetts headquarters, President and CEO Ashley McEvoy laid out the company’s innovation roadmap. That includes updates to the current-generation Omnipod 5 platform, the new Omnipod 6 and a new, fully closed-loop pump for the type 2 diabetes population.
“Each generation of our technology has marked a true breakthrough in making life with diabetes a little more normal and bringing Omnipod to even more people around the world,” McEvoy said during the Investor Day event. “What’s coming next delivers on that same high bar, but we’re moving a little faster now.”
McEvoy said the company plans to add smarter automation, expanded continuous glucose monitor (CGM) connectivity and a new data platform called Discover to the Omnipod 5 platform in 2026. Then, in 2027, Insulet plans to launch Omnipod 6, building on the success of Omnipod 5. To close out its three-year roadmap, the company plans to introduce its first fully closed-loop insulin pump system for type 2 diabetes.
COO Eric Benjamin said the development for Omnipod 6 “is progressing quickly,” as the company advances its several innovations.
“With Omnipod 5 enhancements, Omnipod 6 and a fully closed-loop pump for type 2 diabetes, we expect to extend our leadership with the aim of improving outcomes, breaking down barriers to adoption and unlocking new segments of our total addressable market,” Benjamin said.
