Inspire Medical (NYSE: INSP) announced today that its CFO, Rick Buchholz, plans to step down from his position to pursue other professional opportunities.
Buchholz plans to step down from the CFO post, effective Dec. 31, 2025. He intends to remain employed with Inspire in an advisory role through Feb. 28, 2026, to ensure a smooth transition.
“Since joining Inspire in 2014, Rick has provided steady leadership and invaluable guidance, leaving a lasting impact on the company,” said Tim Herbert, chair and CEO, Inspire Medical Systems. “He played a pivotal role in our journey — from the commercial launch, where revenue grew from $4 million to over $800 million in 2024, through our initial public offering, the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ultimately to becoming a profitable enterprise. On a personal note, I want to thank Rick for his unwavering dedication and partnership over the years.”
Inspire Medical develops implantable neurostimulation technology designed to treat obstructive sleep apnea. It currently has the launch of its Inspire V next-generation sleep apnea therapy system underway.
The company said it has an active search ongoing to identify its next CFO.
“It has been a great honor to be a part of the Inspire journey,” said Buchholz. “As I move on to my next endeavors, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition to help the company find the financial leader for the next phase of growth.”
Inspire reaffirmed its previously issued guidance for 2025. This guidance led to a hit on the company’s stock following its second-quarter earnings report earlier this month. Despite Street-beating results, the company slashed its guidance amid headwinds and litigation-related legal expenses. Those include costs related to a U.S. Dept. of Justice investigation and a patent infringement suit filed against rival Nyxoah.
