Aliya EX expands the Redwood City, California-based company’s Aliya EX generator expands the Aliya pulsed electric field (PEF) portfolio to enable the treatment of a broader range of lesion sizes. Compared to the previous-generation system, the new generator produces up to double the ablation diameter, the company says. This results in as much as a sevenfold increase in ablation volume while maintaining the core attributes of Aliya PEF therapy.
Galvanizes’ novel PEF platform, a non-pharmacologic intervention, uses non-thermal, short-duration, highly focused electrical pulses. It destabilizes cellular pathologic processes in the hopes of changing the disease trajectory in areas like oncology and chronic lung disease.

Unlike traditional thermal ablation, Aliya’s short-duration, high-voltage pulses induce cell death without damaging surrounding sensitive structures. The procedure can take place percutaneously or endoscopically with the Inumi Flex needle. To date, the company reports more than 2,000 patients receiving Aliya ablation, both commercially and in U.S. trials. The system has FDA 510(k) clearance for the surgical ablation of soft tissue.
With the new generator cleared, the company says its technology helps to deliver predictable, non-thermal ablation with a favorable safety profile and compatibility with existing biopsy workflows and standard oncologic therapies. It can also provide immune activation, allowing Aliya PEF to function as a complementary primer for other therapeutic approaches.
Galvanize is led by Doug Godshall, who joined as chair and CEO in September 2025 alongside a $100 million funding round. Godshall previously served as CEO of HeartWare before its $1 billion acquisition by Medtronic in 2016. Then, he led Shockwave Medical as CEO until its $13.1 billion acquisition by Johnson & Johnson MedTech in 2024.
The company plans to launch the Aliya EX generator in a limited U.S. rollout with clearance now secured.
