Swedish precision radiation therapy devices and software maker Elekta is bringing in an executive from Denmark to be its new CEO.
Elekta today announced the appointment of Jakob Just-Bomholt, who will take over the corner office at the company on Sept. 1, 2025. Just-Bomholt, a Danish citizen, will be based in Stockholm and will start onboarding at Elekta in office, working with current acting CEO Jonas Bolander and the rest of the management team.
Just-Bomholt most recently was CEO of 3Shape, a Danish global innovator in 3D scanning and CAD/CAM software for the dental industry. Before that, he was a senior executive within Falck A/S and A/P Moller Maersk.
“His strategic leadership and international experience, combined with a proven ability to drive profitable growth and global expansion through customer-focused innovation and operational excellence, make him very well-suited to lead Elekta forward. The board is confident in Jakob’s ability to guide the company into its next chapter and deliver value to our shareholders, customers, and the cancer patients we serve around the world,” Laurent Leksell, Elekta’s founder and board chair, said in a news release.
Just-Bomholt said: “I am honored to join Elekta, a company with a proud legacy and a powerful mission to improve the lives of people with cancer. Radiation therapy plays a vital role in modern oncology, and I look forward to working with the talented team at Elekta to continue delivering life-changing solutions to patients around the world. Elekta holds a strong market position, industry leading product portfolio, and considerable growth potential. I look forward to guiding the company in delivering long-term value for all our stakeholders.”
Elekta’s previous CEO, Gustaf Salford stepped down in February after the company’s board advised that it was time for new leadership. Leskell said at the time that the company needed a more intense focus on improving profitability and strengthening growth.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Elekta ranked 56th for annual revenue in our most recent Medtech Big 100 report on the world’s largest medical device companies.
