Mohr joined Sunnyvale, California-based Intuitive in 2006 as SVP and CFO, became EVP in 2022 and left the company in 2024. He now serves on the boards of Veeva Systems, Pacific Biosciences of California, and SRI International.
“Capstan’s platform is tackling an unserved area of cardiovascular care for a patient population that has almost no other options,” Mohr said in the release. “It has the potential to transform heart valve disease for patients at high risk for surgery, into a precise, and low-stress procedure for both patients and clinicians.”

The Santa Cruz, California-based startup reported its first-in-human mitral valve procedures in March 2025 and planned to have 10 of its nitinol-enabled heart valves in patients by the end of the year. After the first procedures, Nixon said the company hoped to file for FDA premarket approval (PMA) for the system as soon as 2028.
