Amplitude Vascular Systems (AVS) today announced the opening of its new global headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The new 37,811-square-foot space now serves as the company’s hub for innovation, operations and commercialization. It supports the company as it looks to advance its novel Pulse device for pulsatile intravascular lithotripsy (PIVL).
“As we continue to build momentum toward regulatory approval in the U.S., the new space will support the company’s growth to bring the next generation intravascular lithotripsy therapy for both peripheral and coronary artery disease to market,” said Mark Toland, chair of the board of AVS.
AVS’ Pulse treats patients with moderate to severely calcified peripheral arterial disease. It received FDA investigational device exemption last year. The IVL space continues to heat up with Johnson & Johnson acquiring Shockwave Medical, a leader in IVL, for $13 billion last year.
Other companies, such as FastWave Medical, Elixir Medical and Vantis Vascular are making waves in IVL, too. Boston Scientific recently joined the fray with its acquisition of Bolt Medical, too. Abbott is making its own IVL play, too, advancing its own system.
As AVS moves forward with its own platform, the new facility in Waltham can help with the latest technology and expanded space. The company says it features space for R&D, manufacturing activities and general use.
“The new headquarters is a testament to our progress as we grow our team and prepare to bring our innovative solution to managing calcified arterial disease to the market,” said Sean Gilligan, COO. “The dedicated R&D and operations spaces have helped accelerate our team’s capabilities and our manufacturing strategy as we prepare for commercialization of our first platform in mid-2026.”
