California Healthcare Institute, Bay Area Bioscience Assn. to merge

California’s biomedical industry has a new trade council as a result of a merger between 2 of the Golden State’s largest life science lobbying groups.

The California Healthcare Institute said today that it signed a letter of intent to merge with the Bay Area Bioscience Assn. to create a new entity called the California Biomedical Innovation Alliance.

AdvaMed opens Shanghai office

AdvaMed opens Shanghai office

AdvaMed yesterday said it officially opened its Shanghai office during a ceremony in Beijing.

The Shanghai outpost, 1st recognized by Chinese authorities last May, builds on groundwork laid during 2 years’ work in China by Lynn Jiao, executive director of AdvaMed’s China program, according to a press release.

Medical device lobbies tap new government affairs execs

The Medical Device Manufacturers Assn. and the Medical Imaging Technology Alliance tapped a pair of Capitol Hill veterans to lead their government affairs departments.

Clayton Hall, a former chief of staff for 3 representatives with 12 years on The Hill, was named vice president of government affairs at MDMA, the association said.
