Stryker highlights new additions to Mako, Triathlon portfolios at AAOS

Stryker (NYSE: SYK) today announced plans to showcase the latest innovations across a handful of its orthopedic product lines.

The company is introducing the newest additions to its Triathlon Total Knee System, expanded Mako SmartRobotics offerings and its enhanced power tool portfolio at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) 2026 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

“As the industry continues to evolve, Stryker is expanding our capabilities across orthopaedic specialties,” said Katherine Truppi, president of Stryker’s Joint Replacement division. “Surgeons and patients are seeking more solutions, and these innovations are designed to do just that — helping patients get back to the activities they love.”

Stryker adds to Triathlon portfolio

Portage, Michigan-based Stryker announced the introduction of Triathlon Gold, its first commercially available femoral component. The company built the technology on the trusted performance of its existing Triathlon platform. It offers an option for patients with metal sensitivity concerns.

Stryker uses additive manufacturing (3D printing) for the implant, which features a titanium nitride surface and Triathlon cementless technology. It delivers fixation and long-term durability with scratch resistance superior to competitive surfaces. the company says. The implant also offers the flexibility for both cemented and cementless workflows.

Additionally, Stryker introduced the Triathlon Medial Stabilized (MS) insert. It allows customers to leverage Mako robotic technology with a preferred tibial insert. The company designed it to improve stability while allowing for more natural rotational kinematics.

Stryker’s unveiling of new Triathlon offerings comes on the heels of the first cases using the Think Surgical TMINI surgical robot with Triathlon implants, announced last week.

“With more than 20 years of proven outcomes, the Triathlon system has set a high standard in knee replacement,” said Lisa Kloes, VP and GM of Stryker’s Knee business. “Triathlon Gold and the Triathlon Medial Stabilized (MS) Insert represent the next evolution of that legacy — solutions shaped by customer insight and designed to meet the evolving needs of patients.”

Mako enhancements

Stryker said it will showcase Mako RPS for Total Knee at AAOS, highlighting the newest addition to the surgical robot platform.

The handheld robotic system combines Stryker’s proven Mako robotic technology with its power tool capabilities. It says the new platform represents Mako’s expansion into a new robotics platform. The company began the rollout for the platform last month.

Mako now includes Mako SmartRobotics, Stryker’s multi-specialty, robotic-arm assisted platform featuring Mako 4, and Mako Handheld Robotics with Mako RPS. The company hopes to reach a new market segment through compatibility with its Triathlon Total Knee System.

Additionally, Stryker says it has begun the full market release of Mako Shoulder, transforming primary reverse shoulder surgery. The platform integrates Tornier Perform Reversed shoulder implants, Blueprint planning software and Mako SmartRobotics. It delivers a comprehensive, connected solution, the company says.

Stryker plans to make Mako Shoulder available on Mako 4, the fourth-generation robot, in the second half of 2026.

New power tools

Stryker also introduced the BPX cordless micro power tool system for extremities procedures and TPX HD for the needs of total joint revisions, trauma and minimally invasive foot and ankle surgeries.

The company said the new tools offer enhanced power, customizable control and specialized attachments capable of cutting through metal and bone cement. It also launched the 7900 Attachments, its next generation of attachments for the power tools.
