There has been a shift in leadership for the Digital, Robotics and Enabling Technologies business at Stryker (NYSE: SYK) .
Stryker Group President, Orthopaedics, Spencer Stiles, posted on LinkedIn that the company appointed Mike Carlin as president of Digital Robotics and Enabling Technologies. As a result, Robert Cohen, who previously held that role, transitions to VP, Innovation and Technology, Orthopaedics.
“Digital, Robotics, and Enabling Technologies continue to advance our mission to make healthcare better,” Stiles wrote. “As we deepen our commitment to the needs of our customers, in these areas, we’re doing so through visionary leadership.
“These leadership moves underscore our continued commitment to delivering innovative solutions for our customers and their patients. Wishing great success to both Mike and Robert as we continue to fulfill our mission!”
Cohen wrote that the decision to move into a new role comes as “work and life balance now matters more.” He had served in his previous role since October 2020 and joined Stryker through its acquisition of Mako. The Mako robotic ortho surgery systems took the market by storm, with competitors such as Zimmer Biomet and Johnson & Johnson Medtech introducing their own systems to better compete.
In his new post, Cohen said Stryker wants him to continue with a focus on innovation, speaking engagements, musculoskeletal strategy and AI/digital advocacy.
“Stryker is passionate about accelerating digital and enabling tech to improve healthcare,” Cohen wrote. “I’m excited to remain a part of that. And, I’m super excited that Mike Carlin will take the reigns of DRE to keep the machine running to be even more impactful. Stryker R&D is well positioned for the future!”
