Portage, Michigan–based Stryker recently acquired the Osteotomy Truss System (OTS) and Ankle Truss System (ATS) from 4WEB. It plans to feature both systems, plus other products, this week at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting.
The new ATS system features Arthrosphere and Arthrocube implants. It was designed to restore limb length while providing structural integrity for the limb during tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) fusions. ATS implants feature Truss Implant Technology, with open architecture designed to provide structural support and promote fusion.
It has clearance for use with the Stryker T2 ankle arthrodesis nail or Valor hindfoot fusion nail. Stryker plans to offer it in three different shapes to enable the expedited scheduling of surgeries for patients needing immediate ankle fusion.
The OTS features Cotton, Evans and Utility wedges, offering a comprehensive solution for all of a surgeon’s osteotomy needs. It offers use in internal bone fixation and osteotomies in the foot and ankle.
Stryker has gone on offense with M&A. The orthopedic and surgical tech giant also plans to showcase technology brought in through its recent acquisition of Artelon, which was completed in July. (Other recent tuck-in acquisitions include Molli Surgical, which developed wire-free soft tissue localization technology for breast-conserving surgery.)
“The addition of the ATS and the integration of Artelon reflects our commitment to providing surgeons with enhanced orthopedic solutions to achieve the best possible patient outcomes,” said Michael Rankin, VP of marketing and medical education for Stryker’s Foot & Ankle business. “We will never stop our dedication to advancing our offerings to meet the evolving needs of our customers for all foot and ankle procedures. We look forward to showcasing our expanded portfolio at the AOFAS conference.”
