Vivistim, a vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) system, aims to help ischemic stroke survivors improve hand and arm function when paired with occupational or physical therapy. Paired VNS helps increase neuroplasticity, enabling stroke survivors to make gains with their hands and arms during activities of daily living.
Recently presented real-world Vivistim outcomes demonstrated 2-3 times improved arm function compared to traditional stroke therapy alone.
U.S. Venture Partners (USVP) led the financing round to support MicroTransponder and Vivistim. Its current syndicate of investors, Osage University Partners, Action Potential Venture Capital, GPG Ventures, The Vertical Group and Exceller Hunt Ventures, participated. Two new investors — Gilde Healthcare and Longitude Capital — also joined.
“We’ve built programs in 20% of Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Centers and 50% of Becker’s 2024 100 Great Neuro and Spine Programs by presenting Vivistim as the evidence-based chronic stroke recovery solution that’s been missing from the stroke continuum of care,” said Richard Foust, MicroTransponder CEO. “In partnership with leading healthcare providers, we’ve helped build new programs that support our goal of changing the standard of care for stroke treatment across the U.S., renewing hope for stroke survivors and their caregivers.”
