CFO Thierry Pieton posted on LinkedIn to share Lenard’s appointment to the newly created role.
“This is a new role for Medtronic and an important step as we continue to accelerate investment in innovation,” he said. “This role brings Finance even closer to how we prioritize, fund, and execute R&D at enterprise scale, enabling our innovation pipeline to deliver even greater patient impact and long‑term value creation.
Pieton said Lenard brings “deep medtech finance experience,” with a track record of supporting innovative organizations. Most recently, Pieton said, Lenard held senior leadership roles at fellow medtech giant Johnson & Johnson.
“I look forward to partnering with him as we further strengthen the financial rigor, discipline, and transparency behind our innovation agenda,” Pieton concluded.
According to Lenard’s LinkedIn page, he spent more than 22 years at J&J across a wide range of positions. His time there culminated in the title of VP, global services finance, which he held for nearly four years. He also spent time as VP and CFO of Robotics & Digital at J&J, as well as leading finance operations for units within DePuy Synthes and Ethicon, among other roles. Before J&J, Lenard also spent more than six years across several positions at Procter & Gamble.
