The largest medtech funding rounds of 2025

December 29, 2025 By Sean Whooley

As another year winds down, it’s safe to say that investment in medtech is not stopping any time soon.

Over the course of 2025, dozens of funding rounds raised hundreds of millions of dollars, with several companies raising large sums.

Medtech that received significant investments included brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), surgical robotic platforms, cardiac ablation systems and many more.

Here are the largest medtech funding rounds — all of which equaled or exceeded $150 million — of 2025:

BVI — $1B

Waltham, Massachusetts–based BVI in March announced that it completed a $1 billion strategic capital raise in partnership with asset management firm TPG.

The investment fully refinanced BVI’s existing debt and added equity from TPG and new investors as the ophthalmic company looks to accelerate product development and expand its global footprint.

Among its products, BVI develops the FineVision HP, which it touts as the world’s first trifocal IOL. FineVision HP features a patented diffractive optic design, delivery balanced vision at far, intermediate and near distances. The company won FDA approval for the technology in October.

Neuralink — $650M

Neuralink, Elon Musk’s Neuralink BCI venture, filed to raise $649 million in an equity offering in June.

The equity raise came as Neuralink reportedly surpassed a valuation of $9 billion, following commitments of around $600 million from investors last month.

The company also made headlines earlier this year when it implanted its device in a human patient for the first time, allowing the participant to control a cursor with their thoughts. The trial marked a significant milestone in Neuralink’s long-term goal of advancing human-computer symbiosis.

HistoSonics — $250M

Minneapolis-based HistoSonics’ new ownership group — a syndicate of private and public investors that acquired a majority stake in the medtech company for $2.25 billion in August — led an October financing for the company worth $250 million. They were joined by additional investors Thiel Bio and Founders Fund, among others.

HistoSonics said the financing goes toward its ongoing commercial expansion for the Edison histotripsy system into new markets. The Edison platform uses focused ultrasound energy — delivered via a robotic arm —  to provide histotripsy for the noninvasive destruction of tumors.

Edison mechanically destroys and liquifies targeted tissue and tumors without the invasiveness or toxicity of traditional procedures. The platform received its first FDA de novo authorization in the U.S. in 2023. It’s the first and only histotripsy platform cleared for clinical use globally.

Kardium — $250M

As the pulsed field ablation (PFA) market continues to heat up, Kardium got a boost with $250 million in financing.

Kardium said the new funding enables it to pursue regulatory approvals for its Globe PFA system. Other uses for funds include expanding manufacturing and production and establishing a clinical support and commercial team. It also enables further clinical research for additional applications of the Globe system.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company designed its Globe mapping and ablation system with a catheter that features a 122-electrode array and advanced software. The platform enables rapid pulmonary vein isolation, high-definition mapping and the ability to ablate anywhere in the atrium. All of these capabilities combine in one single catheter.

Kardium got the FDA’s green light for the Globe system in September.

CMR Surgical — $200M

UK-based CMR Surgical received significant financial backing to support its Versius surgical robot with $200 million in funding last spring.

The company said it intended to use funds to support its ambitious growth plans around the Versius platform. The small-scale surgical robotic system features collaborative arms and bedside units for direct patient access. It also features offers of port placement to best suit the needs of each patient. CMR Surgical aims for Versius to biomimic the human arm. CMR Surgical won FDA approval for its latest-generation Versius earlier this month.

CMR said at the time that potential uses of funds include advancing surgical robotics innovation and product development. That includes the launch of the newly enhanced Versius Plus. Versius Plus facilitates surgical procedures across all specialties. It includes an expanded instrument portfolio, an improved console, advanced digital insights and a fluorescent imaging system.

Synchron — $200M

One of the leading candidates to beat Neuralink to the BCI market, Synchron bolstered its efforts with a $200 million Series D round in November.

The New York–based company said it expected to use proceeds to accelerate the commercialization of its Stentrode BCI. Additionally, it planned to use funds to advance the development of a next-generation interface.

With the financing, Synchron plans to accelerate pivotal trials as it prepares to launch Stentrode. It aims to continue hiring engineers, neuroscientists and operators as well to advance next-generation BCIs. The company also plans to use an expanding Cognitive AI division in New York to train models that learn from brain data to decode thought in real time. In parallel, it established a new San Diego engineering hub to build an advanced brain interface.

The financing brought Synchron’s total funding to $345 million.

Cornerstone Robotics — $200M

Hong Kong–based Cornerstone Robotics, developer of an autonomous endoscopic robotic surgery platform, is looking to pave its path in the growing surgical robotics space, and it now has $200 million to help with that.

The company said in November that it planned to use its new funds to accelerate commercialization efforts and continue innovating in surgical robotics. Its laparoscopic surgical robot features AI-powered embodied intelligence. In August, the company announced a breakthrough in surgical automation for the platform in collaboration with researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

Cornerstone said the $200 million in funding accelerates its mission to make safe, efficient and accessible surgical robotic technologies available to healthcare providers worldwide.

4C Medical — $175M

Led by Boston Scientific, 4C Medical picked up a major investment worth $175 million in March, supporting its heart valve technology.

Minneapolis-based 4C Medical Technologies plans to use the funds to accelerate the clinical development and commercialization of its AltaValve system. AltaValve is the company’s next-generation transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) technology. The company designed its technology to address mitral regurgitation (MR). MR can lead to heart failure or death if untreated. The company received FDA breakthrough device designation for the system last year.

Dr. Jeff Chambers, 4C Medical Technologies chair, said the financing strategically positioned the company to accelerate toward commercialization.

Impulse Dynamics — $158M

In December, Impulse Dynamics announced that it raised more than $158 million in financing to support its heart failure treatment technology.

Impulse Dynamics develops the Optimizer system, designed to deliver cardiac contractility modulation (CCM) therapy to the heart. It significantly improves heart contraction to allow more oxygen-rich blood to push out through the body.

Marlton, New Jersey–based Impulse Dynamics said the funding helps to enhance commercialization and fuel its clinical and technology pipelines. Funding comes on the heels of a new CMS announcement issuing a national coverage determination (NCD) for CCM therapy.

Distalmotion — $150M

Distalmotion said in November that it picked up $150 million through its Series G financing round.

The Lausanne, Switzerland–based surgical robot maker said it planned to use the funding to accelerate the U.S. commercial adoption of Dexter, its soft tissue surgical robot system. Other uses could include further product development initiatives.

Distalmotion designed Dexter to deliver robotic benefits to more hospitals, outpatient departments and ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs). The modular, small-format, open system delivers simplicity and straightforwardness, plus more accessibility, Distalmotion says.
