Fast Five by MassDevice · Medtronic’s major renal denervation setback, Paragonix’s lung preservation system wins FDA nod

This week, the FDA granted a fast-track designation for Nectero Medical’s end-vascular aneurysm stabilization treatment system. Fast Five hosts Sean Whooley and Danielle Kirsh explain how the system works and what executives say about this FDA win.

There’s more AFib news on the horizon, this time from GE Healthcare. The company launched its CardioVisio digital tool for helping to treat AFib. Find out what the system does and the ultimate goal for GE Healthcare.

SPAC mergers are back in the news as Sanuwave Health plans to go public after a business combination agreement with SEP Acquisition Corp. The proposed transaction is valued at $127.5 million. Hear more about the financial details of the deal and the optimism that executives have.

Long-term organ preservation is important for organ transplants. Paragonix’s next-generation BAROguard donor lung preservation system won FDA clearance this week. Whooley explains how the system works and what differentiates it from gold-standard organ transportation methods.

Yesterday, we had news about ReCor Medical’s renal denervation system getting positive votes from an FDA review panel. Today, we’re talking about Medtronic’s results, in which the panel said the risks of using the system outweigh the benefits. The Fast Five hosts explain what this means for Medtronic.
