Lost lawsuit pushes HemCon Medical into bankruptcy | Wall Street Beat
HemCon Medical Technologies said it’s filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its U.S. operation after losing a $34.2 million court decision last month, saying it plans to appeal the ruling.
In March a sharply split U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed course and reinstated a win for Marine Polymer Technologies in its wound dressing patent spat with HemCon.

Hansen Medical (NSDQ:HNSN) said a California court approved its deal to settle a set of lawsuits filed against by shareholders over a 2009 financial restatement for $300,000.

Former Synthes sales rep counter-sues in generic ortho devices battle
Former Synthes Inc. sales rep John Marotta fought back against his erstwhile employer, lodging a counterclaim alleging antitrust violations and claiming that the device giant is using litigation to crush competitors.
Marotta mans the corner office at Emerge Medical Inc., a Denver, Colo.-based orthopedic device maker that offers generic components like surgical screws and drill bits at lower prices.
ACA’s Medicaid expansion far smaller than under either Bush
Justice Stephen Breyer seemed unsure of his facts last week.
During oral arguments on the constitutionality of health care reform, he suggested that the law’s Medicaid expansion, which will offer government coverage to about 15 million low-wage workers and their families, was smaller than previous expansions – notably, the change of the late 1980s and early 1990s, which brought all poor children under Medicaid’s umbrella; and one enacted in the late 1990s and early 2000s that included children up to 200 percent of the poverty level.
