Butterfly Network (NYSE:BFLY) announced today that it appointed Victor Ku as its SVP and chief technology officer (CTO).

Ku’s appointment goes into effect later this month. His responsibilities include leading Butterfly’s global technology strategy, product development and innovation roadmap.

Burlington, Massachusetts–based Butterfly Network develops a single-probe, whole-body ultrasound system with seamless AI integration. Butterfly offers the latest-generation, semiconductor-based iQ3 device. It features a brand-new ergonomic design and provides double the data processing speed compared to previous generations, according to the company. The FDA cleared the iQ3 system in January and it now has CE mark approval in Europe.

Ku has more than two decades of experience leading across regulated, industrial and high-tech environments. That includes leading and scaling global engineering organizations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. His track record includes delivering advanced imaging systems that integrate with embedded IoT, AI-based analytics and complex sensor technologies.

Most recently, Ku served as VP of R&D, engineering and PMO at Headwall Photonics. There, he led the development of hyperspectral imaging products for applications in remote sensing, machine vision and precision agriculture. Other roles included senior positions at Teledyne FLIR and EFI.

“Victor’s deep expertise in semiconductor-based imaging and his proven ability to scale global product development make him a perfect fit for Butterfly’s next phase of growth,” said Joseph DeVivo, president and CEO of Butterfly Network. “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue advancing our mission to democratize medical imaging and improve clinical outcomes around the world.”
