Asahi Kasei (TYO:3407) subsidiary Zoll Medical said today that it closed its deal to acquire Cardiac Science and its portfolio of automated external defibrillators for an undisclosed amount.
Deerfield, Wis.-based Cardiac Science operates in North America, Europe and Asia. The company has installed more than 500,000 units in nearly 100 countries, according to Zoll.
“This acquisition fits well into Zoll’s vision of providing integrated, innovative acute and resuscitation care for all,” Zoll Resuscitation president Elijah White said in prepared remarks. “With Cardiac Science now part of Zoll, we’ll be able to offer our customers more choices and a stronger AED program management infrastructure to ensure that both families of AEDs are ready when needed.”
Zoll said it plans to integrate Cardiac Science into its resuscitation division based in Chelmsford, Mass., with manufacturing continuing in Deerfield.
