Zimmer Biomet (NYSE: ZBH) and PatientIQ will integrate intra-operative data, pre- and post-operative mobility data and patient-reported outcomes with direct accessibility in electronic health records (EHR).

This agreement, announced yesterday, allows greater accessibility to Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility and ZBEdge across PatientIQ’s provider network of more than 750 health systems that cover more than 6,500 orthopedic surgeons and more than 10,000 sites of care.

In this collaboration, providers will activate Zimmer Biomet’s health technologies into PatientIQ’s EHR-integrated technologies. Patients will be automatically enrolled in mymobility, and providers can access mymobility data in EHR, giving orthopedic surgeons and their care teams access to data without switching applications.

“Our mission goes beyond simply measuring patient outcomes,” Matt Gitelis, CEO and founder of PatientIQ, said in a news release.

“We are focused on delivering solutions across our platform that help improve patient outcomes while seamlessly integrating into provider workflows. Zimmer Biomet’s technology not only drives meaningful clinical impact, but also enhances the patient experience and unlocks insights that advance orthopedic care forward.”

Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility care management system, accessible on iPhone and Android smartphone apps, educates patients and guides them through their orthopedic surgery preparation, recovery, exercise plans, and progress tracking. Insights into patient care, plan adherence, and joint mobility are provided, offering one of the most comprehensive views of patient progress currently available.

ZBEdge, Simmer Biomet’s connected ecosystem, collects data before, during, and after surgery, delivering insights so that informed care decision-making is prioritized and a personalized patient experience can be provided. Providers can access ZBEdge Analytics platform, which can be layered with PatientIQ’s outcomes data. This layered data gives providers a full view of patient recovery.

With these insights directly in EHR through PatientIQ’s ClinicalPro, care management will be streamlined, engaging more patients, and improving patient outcomes.

“Our goal is to empower surgeons and care teams with the tools, data and insights needed to deliver personalized, high-quality care,” said Robert Kraal, VP and GM of Connected Health at Zimmer Biomet. “Through this partnership with PatientIQ, we are further advancing our differentiated connected care ecosystem, which links devices, data and digital tools across the patient journey to help improve recovery and outcomes.”
