Verily, Samsung partner to advance clinical research with Galaxy watch data

March 9, 2026 By Skyler Rivera

Google sibling company Verily Life Sciences and Samsung Electronics America announced a collaboration that will bring together Verily’s precision health platform, Pre, and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 to provide an “integrated solution for generating evidence and monitoring real-world populations,” the two companies said in a news release.

The partnership aims to accelerate research for the companies’ life sciences and government customers by combining advanced health analytics with consumer-grade wearable data.

Verily will fully integrate sensor data from Samsung’s Galaxy Watch in its AI-native platform and make the data accessible in its Viewpoint Evidence solution, which will enable research sponsors to run real-world studies with re-contactable participant cohorts.

“This collaboration with Verily accelerates the use of this data in clinical research, providing sponsors with the real-world evidence they need to advance new treatments and improve patient care,” said Samsung Mobile MX B2B Senior Vice President Tyler Gipson.

Research customers will have access to Verily’s dataset of consented participants combined with Samsung sensor data, medical records, surveys and other third-party data at the individual level for advanced insights.

Sponsors can run their own studies using Verily’s registry population and leverage longitudinal data to explore sleep, activity and health outcomes. Verily will also recruit and engage Samsung users for research participation, which the companies said will drive consistent use and high-quality data capture while enabling meaningful research and health insights.

“The use of consumer-friendly devices in clinical research makes it easier for participants to engage in studies, while enabling sponsors to use advanced biomarkers to generate high quality data,” said Verily Chief Technology Officer Scott Burke. “This collaboration realizes our vision to integrate health research into everyday life, in order to generate better evidence and make precision health possible for all.”

Verily’s Pre platform was designed for healthcare researchers to exchange, govern and analyze biomedical data and build and deploy AI models and agents into care and research workflows.

Verily says Pre was created “with a focus on AI governance, auditability and security required to handle healthcare data at scale.”

Viewpoint Evidence connects researchers to contactable participants and their health histories, providing clinical context that traditional real-world data lacks, Verily says on its website. In the collaboration, sponsors will also use Verily’s Refinery and Workbench solutions..

Pre’s data harmonization solution, Refinery, creates “structured, research and AI-ready assets” from multimodal data, like clinical notes and multi-omics data. Workbench is a cloud-based Trusted Research Environment engineered to accelerate data analytics and governance with tools and framework for the lifecycle of an AI or machine learning model by connecting data providers and consumers on a secure health data system.

Verily will provide AI and machine learning-based analytics and digital measure expertise along with comprehensive clinical trial support across regulatory, development, operations and compliance, the companies said in the release.

As a part of the collaboration, the two companies will explore potential joint development of new and enhanced end-to-end solutions for clinical research.
