Vantive, the former kidney care unit of Baxter, today announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in new technology over the next five years.
The business, which Baxter sold to a private equity firm for nearly $4 billion, plans to use the investment to expand R&D and production capacity. It hopes to fuel innovation for digitally enabled therapies for enhancing care access, experience and outcomes for patients.
Vantive announced the investment ahead of its first ERA Congress as a standalone company in Vienna, Austria.
“As we prepare to take part in our first ERA Congress as Vantive, we are proud to unveil this significant investment, which underscores our commitment to shaping the future of kidney care and vital organ support,” said Chris Toth, CEO of Vantive. “Better outcomes are possible when care is more accessible, more intuitive, and more connected to the needs of patients as well as the realities of the modern healthcare ecosystem. That’s why we are focused on transforming where and how therapy is delivered – from life-saving critical care for patients in a hospital, to life-sustaining dialysis for patients at home.”
Vantive said it aims to accelerate the pace of innovation to help healthcare systems meet the growing demand in the kidney care market. It plans to develop digitally enabled dialysis and critical care products and services that power earlier, better-informed clinical decision-making, minimize disruption of care, shift kidney care management from episodic to proactive and enhance patient-care team connectivity.
The company hopes its investment enables expanded access to more consistent, efficient, personalized care.
At ERA, the company plans to showcase its Sharesource remote patient management platform for at-home dialysis care. Other offerings on display include digital health solutions for ICU practitioners, virtual reality training and Vantive learning services and more.
