FDA slaps Nova's glucose test strip recall with a Class I label

After Nova Biomedical issued a voluntary recall letter for its Nova Max test strips and glucose meter kits, the FDA determined that the measure qualified as a Class I recall, a label reserved for issues that pose a threat of significant patient harm.

Diabetes: Nova Biomedical recalls glucose test strips on abnormally high test results

Nova Biomedical recalled its Nova Max blood glucose meter test strips after discovering a glitch in which the meters displayed abnormally high results.

The Waltham, Mass.-based medical device company reported that 21 lots were affected by the recall, asking any customer with affected products to immediately stop using the strips.

Premier GPO rolls on with another contract

Premier

Hospital purchasing organization Premier Inc. announced a fifth contract this week with news that the Charlotte, N.C.-based GPO would begin providing creatinine hand-held analyzers to certain levels of its membership.

The devices, which are used to assess renal function at bedside, are developed by Nova Biomedical Corp. of Waltham, Mass.
