M&A rumor mill: Ikaria looks for a $2B exit

New Jersey critical care devices maker Ikaria Inc. is rumored to be looking for an exit, hoping to claim at least $2 billion, according to unnamed sources.

Ikaria is owned by private equity and venture capital companies including Mountain Capital LLC, ARCH Venture Partners LP and Venrock Associates LP.

FDA clears Ikaria’s upgraded neonate drug delivery system

Hampton, N.J.-based healthcare company Ikaria won FDA clearances for an upgraded software package and 3 non-invasive respiratory care devices for use with its Inomax DSIR drug delivery system.

The Inomax DS and DSIR deliver the company’s proprietary Inomax vasodilator solution, which the company calls the only FDA-approved drug for treatment of infant hypoxic respiratory failure, associated with pulmonary hypertension.

Ikaria recalls Inomax drug-delivery system

Ikaria Inc. issued a Class I recall for the company’s Inomax DS nitric oxide delivery systems in the United States and Canada.

The potential failure of a pressure switch in the device may cause an interruption to the delivery of Inomax, or nitric oxide gas, for patients, the Clifton, N.J.-based company said.

A component within the pressure switch that monitors for when the gas supply should be replaced, according to the company, may tear.
