Syneron Candela (NSDQ:ELOS) this week severed its ties with Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, who was a spokesman for the aesthetic device company’s Gentle Hair Removal brand.
“We hold our employees to high standards, and we expect the same of our business partners,” Yokneam, Israel-based Syneron Candela said. “We wish Ryan well on his future endeavors and thank him for the time he spent supporting our brand.”
Lochte came under international scrutiny after telling Brazilian officials that he was robbed at gunpoint with 3 other American athletes at a gas station in Rio. Officials concluded Lochte’s story wasn’t true, after video emerged from the gas station that showed he was intoxicated and confronted by security after vandalizing the station.
Lochte, who won a gold medal at the Olympic Games, has also been dismissed from 3 other major sponsorships with Speedo USA, Ralph Lauren, and AirWeave.
