The new 10-year, $105 million value partnership will create a center for imaging excellence in which the German medtech giant’s scientists will work with clinical and research teams across the Ohio State health system to develop practical innovations that can be rapidly translated to practice worldwide for treating various types of diseases.
“Combining the strengths of both our institutions allows us to achieve more for the benefit of our patients, locally and globally,” Dr. John J. Warner CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and EVP at Ohio State, said in a news release published yesterday.
“We have a deep bench of subspecialized scientists working in cancer, heart, neuroscience and other disciplines. Along with Siemens Healthineers, we can solve medical challenges and adapt therapies in real time for the betterment of our patients – and that is a very meaningful opportunity that we’re excited to take on together,” Warner said.
For more than 15 years, Siemens Healthineers and Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, have been primary providers of imaging equipment to The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Think MRI, CT, molecular imaging, X-ray, interventional radiology and radiation oncology.
“Our relationship with The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center brings out the best in both organizations,” said David Pacitti, president and head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers. “Not only are we providing them with advanced imaging and other modalities, but through our research collaboration, we’re also co-developing technologies that can save and improve patients’ lives.”
