Philips (NYSE: PHG) announced today that it introduced an industry-first pre-operative CT data integration platform.
The Dutch medtech giant said its innovation integrates pre-operative CT data directly into the cath lab workflow. It made this new capability available through its Advanced Visualization Workspace (AVW) integrated with the Azurion image-guided therapy system. The company announced this at the 2025 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in San Francisco.
Philips — one of the world’s largest medical device companies — says the new offering marks a step toward CT-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This minimally invasive procedure would enable the opening of narrowed coronary arteries to restore blood flow to the heart.
The Follow C-arm capability automatically synchronizes the 3D reconstruction of coronary arteries with the movement of Azurion’s C-arm. As C-arm angulation changes, the CT volume rotates in real time to match. This provides a 3D anatomical view without manual interaction for interventionalists.
Philips says the connection helps clinicians combine the detailed insights of CT with the flexibility of live X-ray guidance in the cath lab. The company said it aims to deliver enhanced anatomical insights to guide complex PCI procedures. It also wants to expand the use of CT beyond diagnosis and planning, making CT-guided PCI standard practice.
