The company launched the new camera head — compatible with the Visera Elite III video system center for surgical endoscopy — in Europe. It also plans to launch in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore upon receipt of regulatory approval in those geographies. Tokyo-based Olympus developed the camera head in a joint venture with Sony called Sony Olympus Medical Solutions Corporation.
Visera S delivers high-definition endoscopic images in office and ambulatory settings. It aids in the early detection and diagnosis of diseases.
Olympus said its product provides four times the number of pixels than a conventional HD camera head. It enables observation with 4K white light images and 4K narrow band imaging (NBI) images. The system also features a blue light observation function for versatile capabilities within a single device, addressing diverse clinical needs.
The company says its camera head supports high-quality diagnosis and treatment of urological disease, including bladder cancer. Through this launch, Olympus aims to enhance the patient care pathway of early diagnosis, minimally invasive treatment and follow-up for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, improving the standard of care and patient outcomes.
“Both new product launches, the 4K CH-S700-08-LB and VISERA S, reflect Olympus’ commitment to advancing urological care and improving patient outcomes by providing enhanced visibility during surgical procedures,” the company said in a news release.
