Palfrey joins along with the added funding as the company looks to bring its ultrasonic technology to the robotic-assisted surgery market. Nami brought in approximately $2.6 million (£1.9 million), adding to $4 million raised in 2024.
Eos Advisory led the round, which also featured participation from the Investment Fund for Scotland managed by Maven Capital Partners (and delivered by the British Business Bank), and Scottish Enterprise. The funds support the Glasgow, Scotland-based company’s planned transition from advanced development to commercialization.
Nami develops miniaturized ultrasonic medical devices for surgical applications. It also supports medical device companies in ultrasonic surgery. The company’s high-performance, miniaturized ultrasonic scalpel aims to overcome barriers in robotic-assisted surgery. Ultrasonic scalpels from Nami have been engineered for integration into articulated, wristed surgical robotic instruments.
Palfrey takes over as CEO with knowledge of Nami, having served as a non-executive director since 2023. She has more than 25 years of leadership experience in medtech, including leading companies like Summit Medical and BOWA Medical UK.
As CEO, she will lead Nami’s commercial strategy and partner engagement as it moves toward market entry. Co-founder Nico Fenu now moves into the COO role at the University of Glasgow spinout he founded alongside Chief Technology Officer Rebecca Cleary.
