According to Shanghai-based Microport, Toumai SP has an integrated single-port design that enables a 2.5 cm incision at the belly button, through which three snake-shaped instruments and a snake-shaped endoscope are inserted. This compact approach enables operations in complex environments, such as narrow spaces and intricate anatomical structures.
MicroPort described the robotic system as ideal for operating rooms with limited space.
Other key Toumai SP features include:
- The system has a 3D high-definition flexible electronic endoscope designed with a multi-degree-of-freedom snake-shaped structure that the company says provides a wide field of view and eliminates blind spots.
- Crossed dual C-arm technology enables a safer fixed-point design, with the surgeon precisely controlling dual robotic arms through a single minimally invasive incision. According to the company, the design enables the need for patient repositioning.
This is the fifth surgical robot launch for MicroPort MedBot.
