South Jordan, Utah-based Merit Medical — maker of disposable medical devices — attributed Wright’s resignation to allegations of certain conduct.
“The company noted that prior to Mr. Wright’s resignation, Merit had received notice of allegations regarding his conduct, which Merit’s independent directors investigated with the assistance of independent counsel,” the Merit Medical statement reads. “The allegations were unrelated to Merit’s operations or financial performance.”
Following Wright’s resignation, the company’s board of directors re-appointed Fred P. Lampropoulos as president. Lampropoulos, Merit’s founder, announced about a year ago that he planned to retire. At the time, he said he intends to continue to serve as president and CEO through Dec. 31, 2025.
Wright joined Merit Medical in 2005, spending nearly 20 years as part of the team. Earlier this year, he took over as president, overseeing the company’s global commercial, marketing, R&D and manufacturing operations. Prior to becoming president, Wright served as chief commercial officer, leading the development and expansion of Merit’s global commercial activities.
