An online survey of medical sales reps ranked medtech titan Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) as the best place to work in sales, according to more than 1,000 users polled by medical jobs website MedReps.com.
Following close behind were fellow industry giants Stryker (NYSE:SYK), which has appeared on MassDevice.com’s "best of" workplaces in the past, and Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX).
The companies also are also highly ranked on other evaluation websites, with Medtronic and Stryker each carrying a 3.4 (out of 5) rating on Glassdoor.com, a database of anonymously posted information about salaries, interviews and jobs from current and former medical device industry employees. Boston Scientific currently carries a 3.1 rating.
The information is useful for industry professionals looking for greener pastures, but it may come in handy for companies that want to keep their workforce happy and attract new talent.
The key, according to survey respondents, is to maintain a competitive compensation and commission structure, but the promise of a healthy work-life balance was a close second. Respondents also placed high value on companies dedicated to research & development and more than half said they’d ideally prefer to work for a small- or medium-sized company, according to a MedReps.com statement.
