The ICT business covers minimally invasive therapies in structural heart, coronary, and hypertension management, the last of which includes renal denervation (RDN).
Recor Medical won the first FDA approval for RDN in 2023 with its Paradise ultrasound RDN system, followed soon after by Medtronic’s Symplicity Spyral RDN system.
“Lara brings proven leadership in the cardiovascular space and a global, future-ready mindset to the recently integrated ICT team,” Medtronic said in a statement shared with MassDevice.
“Lara brings more than two decades of experience leading and scaling global businesses in medtech,” the company continued. “Under her leadership, we will continue to strengthen our ability to serve the interventional cardiology customer, elevate breakthrough innovation, and accelerate our ability to digitally transform the cath lab.”
Barghout started in her new role last week and has “already seen the passion, commitment, and sense of purpose that make this team so special,” she said on LinkedIn.

This weekend, Medtronic VP and RDN GM Jason Fontana announced his departure from the world’s largest medical device company after a 20-year career.
“Looking back over the last two decades, I’ll remember the opportunities, the challenges, the wins and certainly the lessons learned. But more than anything, I’ll remember the people,” he said on LinkedIn. “So many people along the way became mentors, teammates, partners and friends. You challenged me, supported me, made me better and, just as importantly, made the journey a lot of fun.”
Fontana later shared advice to sum up what he’s learned: “Build something that matters, with people who matter, and leave it better than you found it.”
