Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) maintained it status at the top of the internet chatter charts this month with news about diabetes devices, old recalls, lawsuits and medical device hacking.
The device giant sat down last month with high-profile device hacker Jay Radcliffe at a conference in Washington D.C. to discuss medical device security, following news that the company’s recalled Fidelis leads may be prone to fracture following an ICD swap.
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) followed in a close second with its news surrounding its transvaginal mesh products, research leading toward artificial pancreas development and progress toward the company’s $19.7B buyout of Synthes Inc.
Fresenius (NYSE:FMS) joined the list for the first time last month with an FDA probe spurred by allegations of improper use of its Granuflo dialysis concentrate, as well as international reports of attempts by the company to acquire a German hospital.
Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) and closed the top 5 with FDA wins, imaging developments, legal moves and divestitures.
