Inspire Medical Systems (NYSE: INSP) announced that it recently launched the EuroStim registry evaluating its technology in Europe.
The company said this week marks the official launch of EuroStim. On LinkedIn, Inspire said it marks “one of the largest registries in recent years performed about hypoglossal nerve stimulation in Europe.”
“We are excited to announce that the first patient has been enrolled in Germany at the University of Technology hospital (TU Munich), marking a key milestone towards our goal of enrolling 1.000 patients across Europe,” the Minnesota-based company wrote.
According to Inspire, it marks a first-of-its-kind registry in neuromodulation for hypoglossal nerve stimulation. It aims to follow patients out to 10 years to evaluate battery life and add more insights and evidence on Inspire therapy.
Dr. Daniel Jira kicked off the registry at TU Munich, marking the first of 50 centers to take part across Europe.
This marks the latest positive for Inspire, which is now in the midst of the full launch of the next-generation Inspire V system, cleared by the FDA last year. The company also recently highlighted an optimized leadership team, improved profitability and a $75 million share repurchase program.
However, the company also faces some legal scrutiny. In February, Inspire disclosed that it received a civil investigation demand from the DOJ for the District of Minnesota. It relates to allegations of false claims arising from violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute. The demand requests information related to the marketing, promotion and reimbursement practices associated with Inspire products.
