Henry Schein
(Nasdaq: HSIC)
plans to have a new CEO selected by mid-January 2026.
The new CEO will replace Stanley Bergman, who announced his retirement in July after 45 years with Henry Schein.
Bergman, who facilitated the company’s growth from a U.S.-based dental supplier to a global medical product distributor, will stay as CEO and chair while working with the board to identify a successor.
“The board has engaged in a thoughtful and thorough search process,” Bergman said in a news release. “Until a successor CEO assumes the position, I look forward to working with the team to build on the continued momentum in the business and ensuring a smooth transition.”
This CEO transition comes amid a major private equity investment. Early in 2025, the private equity firm KKR invested $250 million in Henry Schein with a goal of increased strategic growth, operational excellence, capital allocation, and employee engagement. In addition to KKR’s 12% stake in the company, the transition marked changes in leadership, as three additional board members were appointed by KKR: Max Lin, William K. “Dan” Daniel and Robert J. “Bob” Hombach.
Since the announcement of the private equity investment in January 2025, Henry Schein has entered into a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on generative AI (GenAI) in dentistry, authorized a repurchase of up to $750 million shares of its common stock, and launched LinkIt digital workflow for dental practice management.
