GE HealthCare could sell Patient Care Solutions biz as it reorganizes

August 10, 2026 By Chris Newmarker

GE HealthCare LogoGE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) recently announced that it is looking at strategic options, including a potential sale, of its $3-billion-a-year Patient Care Solutions business.

Patient Care Solutions is involved with medtech for patient monitoring, diagnostic cardiology, maternal infant care and anesthesia. Its revenue has been slowly declining in recent years, bringing in $3.142 billion, $3.125 billion, and $3.086 billion in 2023, 2024, and 2025 respectively. It comprises about 15% of the Chicago-based medtech giant’s overall revenue.

During a July 29 second-quarter earnings call, CEO Peter Arduini acknowledged that Patient Care Solutions performance remains challenging.

“As we focus on accelerating recovery in this business, a comprehensive review of the strategic options is underway to determine the best path to maximize long-term growth and value, including continued ownership, a sale and other value-enhancing transactions,” Arduini said during the call, transcribed by Motley Fool.

“This is a business with depth and breadth that touches many areas within health systems. We have a healthy pipeline of new products in anesthesia and monitoring as well as digital offerings expected to be introduced this year and in 2027.”

In a statement that a spokesperson shared with MassDevice today, GE HealthCare said: “GE HealthCare is reviewing strategic options for its Patient Care Solutions segment including continued ownership, sale, or other value-enhancing transactions to maximize long-term growth and value for the company. The company remains focused on delivering for patients and customers while returning the business to growth and profitability during this review process.”

The second quarter results — overall Street-beating but also including a 13.3% drop in Patient Care Solutions sales — also included some reorganizing. GE HealthCare combined its Imaging and Advanced Visualization Solutions businesses into a new operating and reportable segment, Advanced Imaging Solutions.  The result is three reportable segments: AIS, Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (“PDx”), and Patient Care Solutions (“PCS”).
