Moll, considered the “father of surgical robotics,” joins the company as it looks to advance its ophthalmology-focused surgical robot. The company says it’s Moll’s first advisor role for such a technology.
Yokneam Illit, Israel–based ForSight develops the ORYOM system. It touts ORYOM as the world’s first robotic surgery platform for cataracts and widespread eye diseases. ORYOM utilizes AI-based algorithms, advanced computer vision, and miniaturized-mechanics.
“Dr. Moll’s incredible legacy of pioneering the surgical robotics category perfectly aligns with our mission to transform the future of eye surgery,” said Dr. Joseph Nathan, ForSight Robotics co-founder, president, and chief medical officer. “As we look to bring the ORYOM platform, the world’s first surgical platform for fully robotic cataract surgery, to market, Dr. Moll’s unparalleled expertise will be instrumental in accelerating our growth and shaping ophthalmic innovation.”
Moll co-founded Intuitive in the 1990s, leading the company to bring the first FDA-cleared surgical robot (da Vinci) to market. He later founded Auris Health, bringing it to an acquisition by Johnson & Johnson in 2019. Following the acquisition, he served as chief development officer for Johnson & Johnson’s medical device business.
Since 2020, Moll has served on ForSight’s strategic advisory board and is a current investor in the company.
“Throughout my career, I have worked with medical robotics companies to improve healthcare access and outcomes for patients worldwide,” Moll said. “ForSight Robotics is advancing surgical robotics in eye care, helping to avoid preventable blindness and address the global shortage of ophthalmic surgeons. Having supported the company since its inception, I’m confident in its team, tools, and potential to reshape the industry. I’m proud to continue serving as a strategic advisor during this period of significant growth.”

ForSight also announced that it named Yonatan Ushpizin VP of research and development and Ilanit Edri as VP of people.
Ushpizin brings nearly 20 years of experience leading multidisciplinary product development from concept to commercialization. His path to ForSight includes stops at Medtronic, Mazor Robotics and Meytar R&D. Most recently, he served as director of robotics research and technology at Medtronic.
ForSight expects Ushpizin to spearhead the next phase of the ORYOM platform’s evolution as the company scales.
Edri, meanwhile, has more than 25 years of HR leadership experience at global organizations. She previously served as VP of HR at Elbit Systems and VP of HR at the University of Israel. She also served as head of HR for Teva Pharmaceutical’s global generic R&D, for Tnuva Dairy and for Medtronic Ventor.
At ForSight, Edri will drive growth while cultivating a high-performance culture and aligning talent strategies with business objectives, according to a news release.
The company just created both new positions now occupied by Ushpizin and Edri, making them the first to hold the posts.
“With the addition of Yonatan and Ilanit to our leadership team and the unparalleled guidance of Dr. Moll, ForSight is positioned to revolutionize ophthalmic surgery,” said Nathan. “Together, we are building a future where cutting-edge robotic surgery eradicates preventable blindness and sets new standards in surgical excellence; we are thrilled to lead the charge in transforming eye care worldwide.”
