Yokneam Illit, Israel-based ForSight Robotics said it plans for Levita to lead its strategic and financial operations. Her focuses center around driving business strategies, expanding strategic partnerships and managing financial and growth objectives.
Levita offers more than 20 years of experience across the medtech industry. Most recently, she served as the business development and strategy leader for Medtronic’s Cranial and Spinal Technologies operating unit. She also served as VP of business operations and Medtronic site lead (formerly at Mazor Robotics) in Israel. Medtronic bought Mazor for $1.7 billion in 2018.
Before Medtronic, Levita held the role of CFO and VP of business operations at Mazor Robotics for more than a decade. Other roles included leadership positions at medical laser company Lumenis and KPMG Hungary.
Why ForSight Robotics chose Levita
Dr. Joseph Nathan, ForSight Robotics co-founder, president, and chief medical officer, called Levita a “proven leader.” In a news release, he cited her dedication to “driving forward healthcare innovation.
“Her expertise and vast management experience in global medical technology companies, from developing successful go-to-market strategies to expanding global partnerships, are unparalleled and aligned with the company’s vision,” said Nathan. “We are thrilled to welcome Sharon to our team as we continue advancing in the development of our ORYOM surgical robotics platform.”
ForSight Robotics’ ORYOM (“daylight” in Hebrew) system marks the world’s first robotic surgery platform for cataracts and widespread eye diseases, the company says. It utilizes AI-based algorithms, advanced computer vision, and miniaturized-mechanics.
Over the past year, ForSight Robotics raised a $55 million Series A round and doubled in size to 50 employees. The company also added to its leadership team with the appointments of Dr. Yaron Levinson and Ran Mendelewicz. Levinson serves as head of product and Mendelewicz serves as head of robotics.
“This is such an exciting time to join ForSight Robotics,” said Levita. “The company has significant potential to help millions of patients around the world. I value its mission to democratize quality surgical eye care and am eager to work together with the world-class team to strengthen the company’s forward momentum and together, have a global impact.”
