BD (NYSE: BDX) has appointed Bilal Muhsin executive vice president and president of its future Connected Care segment, effective immediately.
Muhsin will join the BD executive leadership team and report to CEO and President Tom Polen. He will guide strategy development as the company transitions to the new structure announced under its New BD strategy.
BD Connected Care will combine advanced analytics and artificial intelligence with the company’s smart devices to boost efficiency and patient outcomes, BD said in a news release. The platform will target areas such as connected medication management, workflow robotics and smart monitoring. Muhsin will oversee organizational capabilities, commercial execution, innovation programs and operational and quality excellence for the segment.
“With his extensive and deep knowledge of connected care technologies, software and informatics strategies, combined with his intense focus on the customer, Bilal will have a profound impact at BD as we advance our connected care strategy with cutting-edge, AI-driven technology that transforms patient care by improving safety, efficiency and outcomes,” Polen said. “This is another step forward in advancing our New BD strategy as a differentiated, pure-play MedTech leader, and Bilal will play a critical role in helping BD accelerate our growth and impact on healthcare by capitalizing on the significant digital, robotic and AI technology innovation that we are so well-positioned to capitalize on.”
Muhsin spent 25 years at digital health pioneer Masimo, most recently as chief operating officer. In July 2024, Muhsin announced his intention to retire from Masimo if then-CEO Joe Kiani lost his proxy fight with Politan Capital Management. Kiani ultimately lost the board battle.
Prior to being Masimo’s COO, Muhsin was EVP of engineering, marketing and regulatory. He holds more than 50 patents covering medical systems communication, analytics and patient monitoring technologies.
BD said Muhsin’s experience in medical engineering and software development positions him to lead the Connected Care segment as it becomes a key growth driver for the company.
