Think Surgical announced today that Chris Marrus, an expert in surgical robotics commercialization and operations, has joined as EVP.
Marrus joins with more than two decades of experience in the medtech and surgical robotics sector. He previously served as area VP for Intuitive Surgical, the longtime leader in robotic surgery. After Intuitive, Marrus joined Mako as SVP of sales, leading up to Mako’s acquisition by orthopedic giant Stryker. With the combined company, Marrus spent more than six years as VP of robotic sales and service. Most recently, he held the role of CCO at Synaptive Medical, a surgical and imaging visualization company.
“Having worked with Chris for many years at Stryker, I am confident that Chris’ commercial experience will enable him to accelerate growth in Think Surgical’s indirect and direct businesses,” said Stuart Simpson, president and CEO. “In addition, Chris will take the lead on an ambitious growth initiative planned for 2026. This project will be transformative for the company and I am confident that Chris can see this through to its full potential.”
In his role at Think, Marrus will assist Simpson with financing, product development and operational growth planning, among other things. His appointment comes as the company continues to scale its TMINI surgical robot business. TMINI originally got the FDA’s green light in May 2023. It features a wireless, robotic handpiece that assists surgeons in performing total knee replacement.
“I’m honored to join Think Surgical to help accelerate its commercialization phase,” Marrus said. “The team has built something truly special, and I look forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth and innovation.”
