“I’m happy to share that I’ve started a new position as Chief Executive Officer at Q Bio!” Brewer wrote on the social media site.
Q-Bio’s website says the company operates “at the intersection of AI, physics and biology.” The company aims to automate the physical exam from data collection to triage and routing. It wants to make preventive personalized healthcare available to everyone.
The company says it’s “making the Star Trek Medbay a reality.”
Q-Bio’s Gemini exam combines lab tests, genetics, and vitals with advanced MRI insights. With the exam, plus medical history, wearable and lifestyle data, the company creates a Digital Twin, comprehensively mapping a patient’s health over time.
Brewer founded Bigfoot Biomedical in 2014 in an effort to support insulin delivery and manage diabetes. The company went on to commercialize the Bigfoot Unity smart insulin management system. It features a smart insulin pen cap, which takes data from a CGM and informs the patient exactly how much insulin they need. (Brewer spoke to our sister site, Drug Delivery Business News, about the platform last year.)
In September 2023, Abbott acquired Bigfoot and its insulin management technology. According to Brewer’s LinkedIn profile, he served as divisional VP for connected systems at Abbott following the acquisition. In that role, he led the post-acquisition integration of Bigfoot into Abbott. (Read more about that acquisition from an interview with Abbott Diabetes SVP of Commercial Operations, Chris Scoggins.)
Now, Brewer appears to have moved into a new space with Q-Bio. According to LinkedIn, he technically joined the Redwood City, California-based company as CEO last month.
